Switchable USB and LED light accessible from the top bunk!
This replaces one the A/C vent right above the slider giving you added USB power points in a very handy location plus an LED area light for the lower passenger area AND a front to back level!!!! Now available with your choice of LEDs: 2 White, 2 Red, or 1 of each.
**Please note that the brown option is NOT a match for the VW brown interior.
Please note:
- USE A PROPERLY SIZED FUSE (NOT SUPPLIED) WHEN INSTALLING!
- Components are supplied by various manufacturers.
- This custom-made product is exempt from the right of withdrawal in the EU.
Basic Electrical Schematic:
General Install Instructions:
- I ran a new fused power wire from the Aux battery up the B Pillar.
- Unscrew the fasteners holding up the headliner.
- Run wire across and tuck inside the headliner and into the vent channel above the slider.
- Remove stock vent above slider.
- Install a ground screw at a spot close to the Upper Bunk PowerPod®.
- Connect wiring as per the basic schematic above. (Wiring is really up to you, it depends on how you’d like it to operate.)
- Test the unit to make sure that it functions as you intend.
- Reinstall all of the screws that you removed.

I have installed several of UniWerks switch pods in my 1989 Vanagon Westy to replace ashtrays, maplight, and an upper bunk vent. They look and work great! Extra USB plugs for fans, phones, and tablets is a game changer, especially for camping with my grandkids.
